ABRAHAM AND WILLIAMS, LTD., In the annual report, the directors of Mesarg. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., congratulate shareholders on the pood results of the past year's operations. A most gratifying feat-lire was the improved financial position of the company. Since September 30, 1908, tho reserve fund had been increased by £20,000, and during tho wane period direct liabilities had decreased by over £100,000, and the turnover had been well maintained in spite of the fact that capital account had only increassd by £14,194 during the seven years. Tho net return for the year, after making full allowance for all expenses of management, bad and doublfuJ debto. etc., amounted to £13,346 Is. Bd. to which must be added the sum of £2074 17s. 6d. brought forward from last year, making a total v>f £15,420 19s. 2d. The interim dividend paid for the half-year ended March 31 tost absorbed £2742 se. 6d„ leaving £12,678 13s. Bd. to be dealt with. Of this sum, -£5000 had been added to the reserve fund, which now stood at £2S,CCO. The directors recommend a dividend at the rate of 6 per cent, per annum on the paid-up capital for tho half-year just ended, and that the balanco be carried forward. Customs duty collected at the port of Wellington yesterday amounted to £2233 9s. 9d.

WELLINGTON" WOOL SALES. During the current season four wool sales are to be held in Wellington, the linst being fixed for Wednesday, November 17, catalogues closing at s'p.m. on November 11. it is anticipated that a fair number of bales will be available for the first sale, and already wool ie roaching tho stores, more than one woolbroker having about 500 bales in store, ilesides clips from the North Island, wool is in from Marlborough, but not all this wool ie for the local pale. If the weather conditions remain favourable a good many sheep will be shorn during the next two weeks. The prospects appear excellent, especially for good wools. There is not much demand for faulties and inferior wools, and tills has been the feature of tlic London sales as well as the eales held in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Evidence that good wools will sell at very full ratco is afforded by the fact that private buyers are now offering cxtremo rate for'this class of staple. A year ago the conditions were uncertain, and woolgrowers were very pessimistic but to-day the outlook is very favourable. Of course, woolgrowers will have to depend upon Yorkshire manufacturers to lift tho bulk of their clips, but licenses to exportto America will be available, and nq doubt advantage will be taken of this to sell to the United States. We have not herd miHi of Array requirements recently, but with a fresh impetus in recruiting throughout the Empire the demand for khaki will no doubfc again be felt.
