CITY QUOTA FOR THE TENTH DRAFT \ STILL SHORT The Wellington quota for the Tenth Reinforcements is to go into camp on November 15. The men for the quota are now being chosen —eliicfly according to their order on the books of the Recruiting Ofliee. Tlio City's quota is 341 men, as follows :— Infantry 160 Mounted Rifles 96 Artillery ; '18 Engineers 20 Signal Service 6 A.S.C 5 Ambulance 6 Total 341 The most difficult branches to fill will be the infantry and the mounted, which, are tlio principal arms of the draft. The following table shows how we stand in respect to the two main branches yesterday evening:— Fit on Quota, books. Shortage. Infantry ... 160 145 15 Mounteds ... 96 84 12 Totals ... 256 229. 27 The number of men on the books may be reduced to-day, as there are. opportunities for many men to get straight into camp this afternoon if they report to the Garrison Hall this morning. The men wanted l to-day are urgently needed to make up shortages in the Ninth Reinforcements—not Wellington City shortages.
