By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright i London, October 26. At the wool sales 8133 bales were catalogued, of wliich-3603 bales were from New Zealand. The wool was a very inferior selection. There was, a good attendance. Good merinos were unchanged, faulty extremely neglected. There were frequent withdrawals. Prices were generally weaker. Fine crossbreds firm; medium and coarse, 5 to 7A iper cent, above last closing rates. Slipes were freely offered, and sold irregularly, generally at a full halfpenny advance. Americans were taking crossbreds and slipes and Russians, tlio best scoured merinos. Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., yesterday morning received a cablegram from their London friends, Messrs. San--1 derson. Murray, and 00., audcr dato October 26, as follows:—"Sales have opened, with good attendance and moderate competition. Market shows no change, except for inferior and faulty wools, for which the market is weaker, and it is difficult to obtain bids." The Bank of New Zealand has received the following enable advice from its London office, dated October 26"Compared with close of last sales crossbreds and slipes arc .on the average par to 5 pet cent, dearer. Merinos are unchanged." The United Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London agents, under date Octobor 26:—"The seventh scries of wool sales opened to-day to a full attendance of buyers. Fine, medium, and coarse crossbred advanced 5 per cent, compared with closing rates of previous sales." Messrs. W. .and G. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cable message from their London agents:—"Fine greasies, par to five per cent, advance; others, including slipes and scoureds, unchanged." HIGII COMMISSIONERS .REPORT. The wool sales have commenced. There wac the usual .attendance of the Ilome trade, and good competition. For good merinos and all crossbreds there was a moderate demand, the Continent and America buying fine wools, but the selection to-day was not fairly representative. Values compared with last sales are as follow:—Good merinos, unchanged; inferior continue ncglected; fine crossbrcd*, all grades, one penny; medium crossbreds, all grades aud inferior, one halfpenny higher. 44,000 bales of New Zealand wool are catalogued.
