The National Liberal Club 'has passed a resolution praying the King to appoint a. day for showing the Empire's ■homage to Miss Cavell's memory. Groat preparations aro being made for a memorial service to Miss Cavell at St. Paul's Cathedral. It is _ expected, that 2500 uniformed nurses will be present. The King and Queen may attend. The King and Queen have written to Nurse Cavell's mother, expressing their horror of tho appalling deed, and add,ing: "The men and women of tho civilised world have been moved to admiration and awe by Nurse Cavell's faitli and courage in. death." ■ , 'A CERMAN OFFICIAL STATEMENT. DEFENCE OF LAW AND LOGIC ASSERTED. New York, October 20. Tho German Under-Secretary for State (Herr Zimmermann), in a message from Berlin, says that the .female sex in law lias only one preference—namely, a wo-' man in a delicate condition must not bo oxecut-ed. The official report states that tho execution was in accordance with' the regulations.
