A deputation representing the Petone Ambulance Van Committee waited on the council in respect to tho agreement existing between tho council ancl the committee. Mrs. Bennet and Mr. W. .Clark pointed out that tho present conditions were unsatisfactory, that tho cost of horsing the van had increased, and as generally onlj- about one caso in five actually paid the fee (10s.), it could be seen that better conditions were needed. It was suggested that the council should make a definito charge for each trip, as very often driver's overtime charges further increased tho cost. After discussion it was decided that all Petone cases should be charged 10s. each, dnring week days. A resolution carried by the residents of Koro Koro in referenoe to the lighting scheme, as follows, "That this meeting of householders is of opinion that the report of the engineer as published is unsympathetic to tile.scheme, and considers that the alternative scheme of power from the pumping station, as promised by the Mayor (which power is now lying dormant), should have been submitted," was presented. . Mie_ Mayor 6tated that lie considered the Koro Koro people might well consider tlie question of becoming a separate rating, area, for tho purpose of raising a loan of £1000 for this purpose.

This was carried, and the council also resolved to ascertain the legal position in this connection.
.An application for the council's subsidy to the Petone Technical School of £30 was agreed to.
An invitation to the council from tlio Rev. J. J. Lewis to attend tlio local Wesle.van Church on Sunday, being tlio difce fixed for a national service of intercession throughout tlie British Empire, b,v the British Wesle.van Method-., ist Conference, was accepted. ' The Under-Secretary, Department of Lands and Survey, advised that the council's application to have 10 acres of :the Wilford Settlement set aside as a recreation reserve cannot be granted unless the council is prepared to pay the value of the proposed reserve.
