INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of tlie Wellington Industrial Association was held last night. Mr. F. J. Evans presided. Correspondence between the secretary and tho Prime Minister relating to a 'Board of Trade was read. The secretary (Mr. Alien) asked Mr. Massoy to receive a deputation from the Advisory Committee of the Industrial Corporation of New Zealand concerning their proposals. -At lliat • time (tlie end of September) Mr. Massev found himself -unable to Teceive the deputation. He replied that Parliament would be asked t<i pass a short measure providing for the setting up of a Board of Trade, but riot such a body as the Industrial ■Corporation had in mind. He regretted that those proposals would have to stand over until next session of Parliament.

The secretary reported having taken 'steps, by consulting with the Editor of the "School Journal," to have inserted in that publication matter concerning New Zealand industries. Amounts amounting to £18 were passed for payment. The amount in liand was 'shown to. bo £50 13s. Bd. Messrs. F. J. Evans, 0. B. Norwood, fT. Ballinger, and Watkins were appointed delegates of the association to attend the meeting of the New Zealand Industrial Corporation, to bo held at Cliristcliurch on 'November 9 nest. Mr. T. Ballinger was appointed to represent the association as an additional member- of the Wellington Technical School Board. Some further inference was made to the Board of Trade to be sot up under the Act of last session. The secretary pointed out that the Act did not provide for any single proposal advocated by the association, in which statement present agreed. The secretary was instructed to bring the question under the notice of the- Industrial Corporation of Now Zealand at its annual meeting next month.
