J. G. W. Aitkcn) briefly explained that the commission had originally decided on reducing the number of boards to seven, but this number had subsequently been increased to nine, giving fiva boards to the North and four to the South. These districts tlio commission was bound to defino by the end of the year. Mr. A. W. Hogg stated that if the commission were to include Nelson or any other part of the South Island in tho Wellington district, it would be a. liugo blundor, and to liis mind tho most preposterous thing over heard- of. They did not want that part of tho couutry, and had no affinity with it.

Mr. T. Moss said that it was not in tho bost interests of the board that its boundaries should be extended beyond the Strait. It -would be better if the district was extended northward. Ee moved that the board object to thp Marlborongh and Nelson districts being i included in the Wellington Education district, and that copies of the -resolution bo sent to the chairman and Mr. Fleming (Chief Inspector). This was seconded by Mr. J. Kebbell and carried \mammously.
