Eleven, girls and one man were burn-, ed .-to death in a fire which 'destroyed a factory 'owned by the Union Box Paper Company. A" number of girls jumped from the building and were • caught by passers-by, but many were ; crushed to death. ■ More deaths are expected. Several additional girls are missing
LATER PETAILS. ' (Rcc. October 26, 9.5 p.m.) Pittsburg, October 25. Fourteen people were killed and eight injured, while thr&e additional girls are missing-. The building was four-storied, ond the rapidity of the flames cut off ■ the third and fourth floors, where the majority of . the girls were working. ( IThey crowded into tho dressing-rooms, ' whore the bodies lay in a heap. Two men on the second floor told the girls to jump, and caught those who obeyed. They were lowered as far as possible, and thence dropped to the sidewalk. . - .
