Tli© Wellington Oentro of tho LifeSaving Sociotv gave a demonstration of land drill ancl snrf roc! at tho seaside yosterday. Tho toanw, accompanied by tlio president (Mr. Hill) and tho secretary (Mr. Collier) woro welcomed by tho Mayor (Mr. Fraaor), and hospitably entertained by prominent residents. Tho demonstration was witnessed by upwards of seven hundred pcoplo. As a result of tlio visit, it is hoped that a branch will bo formed to safeguard tho livos of hundreds of people who spend tho holidays at the resort. Mr. Hill eaid it was nothing chort of criminal that such o, popular resort should fee without tho services of a club.
