Work on the coaling ■ steamers was brought to a sadden standstill to-day as tho result of a mass meeting of tho Coal Lumpers' Union deciding to make certain demands on tho employers, who have been given till to-morrow after, noon to decido. In tho meantime tho men will not resume, and vessels are hung up. Theso include somo of the troop transports. It is understood that the men demand 2s. an hour for day work, and 3s. for overtime, tbq lat ..tor. commencing, at 5 jj.bu
