ELIJAH"
On Thursday evening next the musicloving public will have the opportunity of once more hearing the melodious n.iusic of Mendelssohn's oratorio "Elijah," which ha 9 not been heard for some years, and his fine old oratorio is to be presented by the Royal Wellington Choral Society which will ,be aided by a fine cast of soloists. Mrs. (rower Burns, of Christchurch, will sing the soprano music; Miss lliua Caldow, the contralto solos; Mr. Martin Duff, of Dunedin, the tenor role; Mr. John Praise, the baritone part;,whi]o that of the "Youth" is to be taken by Master Rodney Pankhurst. The chorus and orchestra, numbering 250, will be assisted by the grand organ at which Mr. Kenny will preside. The performance will be under the condyctorship of Mr. Bernard Page. A rehearsal for chorus only will be held at St. John's, to-night, and the final at tli.e Town Hall at 7.30 to-morrow, Wednesday, fcveningi Only, those taking part w.ill be admitted to the final. The ho.t plan is at the .'Bristol, where 3s. and 2s. seats can be reserved. A supply of one shilling tickets will b> on sale at the box office to-day.
