Private H. B. Gwilliam, who joined the Ruahino Company and left with the Main Body, in writing to his parents, says:—"l believe lam ono of less than six, all that are left of the original company who wero in tho first landing at tho Dardanelles. I have been, up till tho time of writing (September 1), in the trenches, on army rations, and think I deserve a spell. For the past two days I have been in the doctor's hands with dysentery. We aro given milk and arrowroot for dinner, so the sick are well cared for." Private Gwilliam is a son of Mr. L. GwfilTam, a well-known old Hutt resident. Writing about the air raids on London in September, a Wellington lady now resident in England refers to the damage done, and how frightened sho was at the roar of tho guns that were fired at the raiding Zeppelin. It was peculiar, she stated, to note how calmly tlie people were taking it, and sho expresses her.admiration for this quality in tho English people. On one occasion sho had not been in bed ten minutes when tho him of a Zeppelin and the banging of guns alarmed her. She went down to her landlady, but found lier and others perfectly calm and collected. On one occasion a bomb fell on a bus in whicli were five people, and all -were killed.
