STIR THEM UP
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Slay I ask you to publish my appreciation of tbo good work The Dominion lias clone in stirring up recruits, and to suggest you might "improve tho shining hour" and also stir up the powers that he. Don't let us have any more talk of tho good old British way of muddling through, it's a domned bad' way, it's not too late even now to follow old "Bobs' "advice and go tho whole hog. Don't wait till the enemy is practically knocking at our gates, but call up right now 100,000 men and equip and train them. Tho critics will say, What about arms ? Well, that matter is surely easily dealt with. Wo are always singing out about Japan assisting us; she can do so by supplying ns with rides, etc. Any way get a movo on, and call up the men: make no exceptions, call up rich and poor, tall and short, thin and fat, ugly and good-look-ing, let them all roll up; teach them how to walk and where to put their feet, put a rifle in their hand, and then we have something to fall back on. Also, let us have a thoroughly representative force, including solicitors, land agents, mining experts, literary critics, stock and sharobrokers, cattle buyers, bookmakers, and last, but not least, some Labour M.P.'s. Another thing, let us do away with tho physique bogoy; so many people confuse jihysiquo with stamina. At a critical time like this, why worry about an inch? —inches will not win battles. —I am. etc., AN INCH OUT.
