MAILS FOR NEW ZEALANDERS
Under date of September 14, Lieutenant Donald M'Curdy (Assistant Director of Army Post Offices) writes from Alexandria to his people at Upper Hntt: — "The work here is still on tho increase— the last mail numbered just on 200 bags, and wo average from 2000 to 3000 parcels a week from New Zealand. I now have a. staff of 23 men at the Advance Base Army Post Office, as my office is called, but half the men arc untrained. I am expecting some P.O. men from Now Zealand in a week to replace-them. In July we handled 2380 bags, besides parcels; for August, just on 3000 bags; and this month it will probably reach near the 4000 mark. I have an office COft. by GOft. at present, but it is not large enough, and I am moving into an old theatre with' about 6500 squaro foot of floor space, in a few days." Evidently Colonel Rhodes's cablegram that tho New Zealand Post Office had. been moved into bigger premises, a feTr days ago, refers to the removal to tb.o I theatre, which had been arranged for | prior to his arrival in Egypt.
