IMPORTED STOCK
NEW QITAUANTINB REGULATIONS. Some important amendments of the quarantine regulations in regard to imported stock are contained in the Gazette of October 7. The most important amendment is with regard to the introduction of cat,'tle from tlio Commonwealth, for importation from all the States of Australia has now been absolutely prohibited. .Horses may be introduced now only .from the United Kingdom, Canada, and ■the United States, and from the Commonwealth States, with the exception of Queensland and Western Australia. Cattle can be imported from the United Kingdom and Canada. Dogs may be imported only from the United Kingdom and the four Australian States previously referred to, and swine may als&.bo introduced from tho same four States now, subject to certain restrictions. ' The new regulations also contain special provisions regarding the introduction of fodder and fittings used in connection with imported stock, and also regarding the introduction of hides, skins, and wsol.
In view of tliG important 'nature' of tho regulations persons who oontemnlato importing stock should first make themselves acquainted with all tlio provisions of tlie regulations.
