IMPORTATION OF LIVE STOCK
! " NEW REGULATIONS-. In'the New Zealand Gazotte of last week there appeared' consolidated - and ' amended regulations under the Stock •'Act relating to the introduction, into 'Now Zealand of live stock, animal manure, etc. Some important changes in the existing practice havo been made !and intending importers are advised to ascertain the requirements of tho 'Mew regulations before making arrangements tor the importation of live stock, etc. Full particulars can be obtained from the Director of tho Live Stock Division, Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce, Wellington. It should bo particularly noted tliat the introduction of cattle from the whole tof the Commonwealth of Australia is "now prohibited owing to tho spread of 'certain dangerous diseases. Horses •Iday be introduced now only from the lUirifcd Kingdom, Canada, and tho Suited States, and from the States of 'the Commonwealth e>:copt Queensland ■and Western Australia. Cattle roaj; Ije introduced from the United Kingdom land Canada. Dogs may be introduced only from tile United Kingdom and from the four States cf the Commonwealth previously referred to. The introduction of.'6wine from the same four I States of the Commonwealth is now permitted, subject to certain restrictions.' There are now special provi- i sions regarding the introduction of fodaor arid fittings used in connection with' imported stock, and also regarding tlio introduction of hides, skins, and wool. These are the main, directions in which changes are made.
