By Telegraph—Preßa Association—CoDyrteit Sydney, October:l4. | Captain Bean (Australian war correspondent) cablos.that latest newspapers show that 1 the Turks claim to Lave repulsed tho landing of our colonial Stroops at Karachafi (on tho head, of the Cult of Saros)-, on August 6. i "This," says Captain Bean, , "refers to Itlie landing of 380 men of the French '(Foreign Legion on the same night as ■the Suvla Bay landing in order to give the Turks the idea of a serious landing, iind to attract troops in that direction, i "The force met with slight opposition, ibut. rushed, three miles inland. TJie •Turks began to pour down a formidable ibody, and the troops -re-embarked successfully. Their loss was about sixty men."

[On August 10 last a message from .'Amsterdam' reported:' A Turkish com-. ,'inunique states, "Under ;the protection !of ..the fleet the enemy on the night of [August 7 landed forces partly in the Neighbourhood of;. Karaohali, north 'of Jthe Gulf of Saros, and partly at two northward of Ari Burmi. We completely dispersed those landed ' at iKarachali. The enemy left twenty dead. Those northward of Ari Burnu slightly advanced under tho fleet's protection. We repelled l attacks; taking prisoner some soldiers and officers."]
