Mr. John Hilton Weaver, who was postmaster at Waipawa for seventeen years, and later at Port Aliurin, subsequently retiring ou pensiou, died at Napier yesterday afternoon.

The death occurred at his jesidonce, Kilmoro Avenne, yesterday morning, of Mr. James A. Donaldson, a native of Wellington, who for years conducted a grocery business in Webb Street, and more recently at the corner of Arlington and Hopper Streets. The decease ed, who waso3 years of age, had been, a sufferer from consumption, of tha spine for the past eighteen months. Mr. Donaldson was a fine musician, and for a great many years belonged to the Garrison Band. He was also for five years a member of Fuller's Vaudeville Orchestra. By his death, Court Sir George Grey (Foresters) loses one of its prominent members. Deceased has left a widow and a family of five sonß and three daughters. The eldest (Arthur) is accountant for • Messrs Jj O'Brien and Co., the second (Sydney)' left with the 7th Reinforcements, and the third (Fred.) is in the Wellington City. Tramways Department.

Rev. Archibald G. Brown has returned from Auckland, whero he has been taking part in the Baptist Annual Conference. For very many years Mr. Browa laboured in the East End of London, and there built the East London Tabernacle. He afterwards held the pastorate of the Metropolitan Tabernacle, the late Rev. C. H. Spurgeon's great church in Loudon. Mr. Brown has noir retired from the settled pastorate and is touring the world. Up to tho close of this year lie will preach at .
