ANN UAL JIBUTI KG. Tho annual meeting of tho Now Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys, In-f-orporatctl, was rcccutly held in Wellington, and Httcnded by representative 'members of the. profession. Tlio report of tho council, presented by the president- (Jlr. A. J. Park), dealt with the activities of the council during the past year. It referred to the want of accommodation at the Government Patent Office for tho public and the profession, and tho genoral inconvenience caused by lack of spaoe, and nrccd that, as tlio working of tho ollico shows annually a largo profit (over £-1000 last year),' the Government should be approached by the incoming council, and requested that tho accommodation he improved. The report also drew attention to the issuing by tho Government of a proclamation under which the payments of fees in enemy countries in respect of patents and applications for patents hold by New Zealand subjects, and also tho payment of renewal fees on New Zealand patents hold by enemy subjects, wcro allowed during tlio continuance of the war. "Under this proclamation tho making of applications for patents, trade marks, and designs in an enemy country is rendered legal, this enabling inventors to secure their rights in enemy countries. Ainumber of resolutions dealing with the recommendations in tho report, and generally with the interests of the inventing public, were proposed and adopted. '
Tho following; were elected to compose tho council for tho'coming year:—Mr. J. \V. Hunter president; llr. P. C. Climie, vico-prcisideiit; members of the council, Messra. Baldwin, Coates, Basley, and O'Donnell.
