The Shaw-Savill liner Arawa will leavo [jyttelton to-day for Auckland, whore Homeward loading wilt be continued. Wellington will bo the vessel's final port of departure on October 25. Accordant 'to the Aickland "Herald," considerable difficulty was experienced by the Union Steam Ship Company in obtaining a, stokehold crew for the steamer KToura, which sailed for Newcastle on Friday last. Tho voyage will occupy not more than a week, and on a basis of the legal wage of .£lO per month for trimmers and £8 per month for firemen, the company would have to pay £2 10s. and £2 for the voyage respectively. As men were hard to obtain, however, the company offered £12 ICs. for the voyage and a passage back to New Zealand for both trimmers and firemen. Tho men would not accept theso conditions, and demanded. £15 for the voyage. Sufficient num. were stvr.ired later, and tho vessel was enabled to sail.
The barque Manivrowa, 327 tons, lias been chartered to bring- a oaiga of hardwood from *-larenco River to New Zealand.
TW Kauri Is c.i route from Newcastle to Lyttellon, while tho Katoa is loading at the New South Wale? port for Auckland.
The kumara, which left, Waitara for Auckland at 9 a.m. yesterday, is expected to leave the latter port for London on Oetobov 19. . Bound froai London, the Now Zealand Shipping Company's Turaliina left Auckland at 6.30 n.m. yesterday, and should arrive here either to-morrow evening or early on. Thursday morning. ' The departure of the Rimutaka for London has T'cen postponed till to-morrow. Continuing her journey, from Greymouth the Mapourika. left Westport for Wellington. via. Nelson and Picton, at 10 a.m. yesterday. She should arrivo hero this evening.
