GIANT BATTLE-PLANE?
FRANCE'S NEW FIGHTING FLEET WONDERFUL ACHIEVEMENTS Bt Telegraph—Frees Association—Oopyr&M (Rec. October 12, 9.55 p.m.) Paris, October 12. A party of 'Anglo-American journalists inspected a French fleot of two hundred new armoured cannon-carrying aeroplanes, and witnessed them manoeuvring high in tho air, firing three-inch rapid-fire guns. Sorno of these planes stretch 130 feet across.
A monster battleplane, with thrco super-posed planes, an average speed of seventy-one miles an hour, and carrying a crew of twelve, with two thrco inch cannon, flew as steadily as ail ordinary biplane. The crew for actual fighting consists of an officer and four aion.
The cruisor aeroplanes aro small biplanes, of high power, capablo of rising almost vertically at a speed of ninety, miles an hour.
The evolutions were thrilling. Tho battleplanes maintained a steady fire whilo circling and plunging. The fleet is almost ready to carry out an attack on tho enemy's rear. Tho improvement in French aviation is astounding. Ono factory is turning out five aero-' planes daily, and others nearly equal this output.
