Tho. Mapourika arrived at Greymouth from Wellington, via way ,ports, at 8 a.m. yesterday, and was cxpectcd to leave on tho return trip at 8 p.m.

A projected departure from Newcastle for Wellington to-morrow is tho ' turretsteamer Koromiko.

The Kaitangata is about ready to sail from Greymouth with a full load of timber for Sydney and Adelaide.

Having cleared Sydney at 1 p.m. on Saturday the Huddart-Parker steamer Victoria is duo at Auckland on Thursday morning next. It is probable that she will proceed direct to Dunedin from tho northern port in order to pick up her schedule East Coast running. Tho Monowai /has about 340 tons of northern cargo to put out here to-day before she leaves for Lyttelton and Dunedin this evening.

As the Defender will undergo overhaul hero hec departure for Hokitika will not take place till Saturday next.

The Kumara- will 'leave Waitara -for Auckland to-day and tho A.nawa left Timaru for' Lyttelton, Auckland, and Wellington yesterday afternoon. Both vessels are loading for London.

The Star of Scotland has arrived at Melbourne from London. After calling at Sydney,' Auckland, and Napier the liner is due here about October 31

The Hamburg-America liner Dacia lias been renamed the Yser. She was at New York when war broke out-, and was afterwards bought from tho German company by Edward Breitung, the American son. of a German, and loaded cotton at Galveston for Bremen. The Question then arose an to whether the Dacia was in fact an American ship, placed on tho Registry. ByEnglish law the decision would have been a ticklish one; but i the problem was evaded. The vessel sailed for a German port, and was captured by a French Warship and taken to Brest. As French x<les recognise no transfers of shipping made after war has begun, the Prize Oourt decided the capture to be a legal one. The 0. and D. Line's Indrapura, which left Wellington on August 2 for London, via Australian ports, is reported to havo arrived at her destination.

It is reported that the Huddart-Parker atea-mer Warribee has been fixed to load on the Pacific Slope for New Zealand ports. The vessel left Sydney on' September 25- for San Francisco, and will bring down a shipment of paper for various ports here.

A ftatement appears'in a London shipping paper to the effect that the Union Company paid £100,000 for tho steamer Maritime. When sold by auction in London on January 5 last, by order of the Marshal of the Admiralty, the vessel, (then the German steamer Schlesien) realised £65,200.

Bound for San Francisco, the Maitai left Sydney at 1 pm. on Saturday. Wellington should be made to-morrow, and departure taken for the Califoruian port, via Itarotonga and Papeete, on Thursday. The Government steamer Hinemoa left on her periodical visit to northern lighthouses yesterday morning. She will be absent for about a month. An expected arrival at Auckland any time now is the U.S. and A. Line's chartered steamer Clan Farquhar from New York, via Panama Canal. She left tho American port on September 5, and after landing the northern portion of her cargo will come on to Wellington.
