The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, October 10. (Note-Quotations, unless otherwise specilled. are average market prices on spot):—. Mutton.—A good demand continues owing to a, short supply available for tlie general public. Canterbury, 7 3-Bd. ner lb tor light-weight; heavy-weight, 7d.; other brajids than Canterbury cannot be quoted Ewes, a very brisk demand owing to a scarcity of wethers, 5Jd. per lb. Lamb.—There is less demand owing to a large supply of Home-grown lamb, selling at a comparatively low price. Canterbury twos, 8 l-Bd.; heavy-weight fours, 7}d.-second-class Quality light-weight, 7Jd.; other' brands than Canterbury, 7Jd. Beef.-Ordinary quality New Zealand beef cannot be quoted. Supplies of American chilled beef are large. Hinds, 7Jd.; fores, 55a. per lb. .
