Handicap, and. looked like a winner at the' distance, but , Sroutmaster scored in the last few istrides,- beatiug the Australasian record by a quartor of a. second. Tim.Doolan .was the favourite in the-Steeplechase, but The Pole , and Scots: Guard mado a poor , showing; the latter was a bad last. Three Star led into the straight from Gai, Westcourt, and Panacre, and at the distance Westcourt failed to stall off a challenge from Panacre, who won by one and a half lengths, three lengths' separating second and third. •Time, lmin. 39sec.\ .
