Paris, October 9. A -French communique says there was air intense German bombardment of Loos, and the most violent infantry attack followed, which was ' completely repulsed witli heavy enemy losses. "We made marked progress in the Champagne, and gained a footing in a work called the 'trapeze,'.'south-east of l'ahure. We captured several trenches and two redoubts in front of the-enemy's second line." London, October 9, 2.5 a.m. The High Commissioner reports:—"The Germans to-day, after an intense bombardment with guns of all calibres, attacked' vory violently Loos and the approaches north and south, but were completely repulsed, suffering heavy losses. 1 - ■ "In the Champagne region the Allies progressed slightly. .South-east of Tahuro the Allies took ground in a, work called "Trapeze," carrying several tronches, and two forts, which were included in the salient kept by t|ie enemy in v front of his second line of ■ resistance.
