AN OFFER HELP, ■; : Tlio arrangements being mads for' national registration were briefly described in the House yesterday by the Prime Minister, who was asked by Mr. Anstey if ho would give volunteers who were unfit for military service ah opportunity of-serving the country by assisting in the necessary house-to-Ho'use canvass. • . Mr. Massey said -,tbat preparations for this census were being made by the Registrar-General. In the case of the larger centres the required information would be obtained by a house-to-house, visitation by volunteers or other-' wise, but certainly by competent men. 11l the more scattered districts, the information would be gathered through the post office, a fortnight'being al'owed for the return of the papers/ The Government liayl .already [received 1 ' many offers of assistance similar to that brought forward by Mr. Anstey, .and the Registrar-General. had intimated that he would be very glad to accept them.
