MISS SPINNEY'S RECITALS
FOR SERBIAN WOMEN AND : ■ CHILDREN. Yesterday afternoon Miss Dorothea Spinney repeated as her last' recital in Wellington "The Trojan Women of Euripides," the proceeds of which are to go to the Fund for Serbian Women and Children. Tho Masonic: Hall was well filled with an audience that was completely lield in thrall by Miss Spinney'® wonderful performance!, andi a second hearing only made thole who bad attended her previous presentation of'the play, realise still more profoundly the dignity, the restraint, the nobility of this play, that/ presented so powerfully ihe eternal tragedy of war f<ir women. Previous to; her performance, Miss Spinney gave a number of poses taken from Greek vases. These were perfectly beautiful, • and. again illustrated the wonderful way in which Miss Spinney has steeped herself- in the atmosphere and spirit of ancient Greece! At the conclusion of the recital, Mr. Justice Dontiiston proposed a vote of thanks to Miss Spinney for tho very great pleasure tjiat. slie had given by her recitals to those who had' attended them. He had not believed it' pdssible that snob life, such vitality, could have been breathed into those wonderful old Greek plays, and he was very glad indeed to .have witnessed t'nem. That'of "The Trojan Women," as. they knew, presented what was happening t-o women in-so many countries of the world just, now, and for that reason its appeal was very great. Miss Spinney afterwards entertained everyone at afternoon tea- in the adjoining room,
