Now Plymouth Weddings. Tho wedding took place 011 Tuesday in St. Mary's Church, New Plymouth, of Mr. Ronald Henry Quilliam, second eon of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Quilliam, to Miss Gwendoline Minnio Bewley, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Bewley. Tho ceremony was performed by tho Rev. 11. A. Favell. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of white orcpo do chine and white feathered hat lined with shell pink. She carried a bouquet- of white roses, lily of the valloy, and stock. The bridesmaid was Miss Kate Dovore, of Auckland, . who wore whito voile with embroideries and an old rose hat. Her bouquet was pink roses and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Bowley, mother of tho bride, wore-a violet gown and biscuitcoloured hat trimmed .with white ostrich feathers tipped with mauve. Mrs. Quilliam, mother of the bridegroom, woro black crepe do chine and niggerbrown hat.trimmed with black feathers, Mr. Ccoil Quilliam, brother of tho bridegroom, was best man. After tho coroinony the-guests were entertained at tho residence of tho bride's parents. Tho bride travelled in a grey gaberdine costume and bluo tagel liat wreathed with pink and red roses, and she also, wore-a molo corduroy velvet motor coat. Tho bridegroom leaves for the front with the Eighth Reinforcements. > The'.wedding took place in St. Mary's - Church, New Plymouth, on Tuesday, of Mr. A. . F. (Noel) Bignell, of Awakino, to Miss Patricia Mary Bayly, third daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Fred. Bayly, New Plymouth. The officiating minister was. the Rev. W. A. Butler. The bride was gowned in a bright, crepe de - chine costume witli a white and saxe hat with touches- of' pink. She was attended by her sister, Miss Fay Bayly, who wore nattier blue silk poplin, primrose flora), belt and white laco hat with of. pale yellow roses! The. mother of tlio bride wore a mole silk costume, tfitli tartan collar and cuffs, and mole hat with ostrich plume to match. .-Mrs. Bignell wore ; black silk wjtli ninon overdress and vieux rose hat. Tlio bridegroom was attended by Mr. Cecil Bignell. The reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents. Simon entertained l her pupils, and. friends at a very ■ pleasant evening which was given yesterday in St. Anne's Hall, Newtown. The large room was comfortably filled for dancing, and had been prettily decorated for the occasion. Excellent music .for dancing ivas supplied by Mr. Timmings. ' The chaperones were Mrs. Gamble, Mrs. Duncan, Mrs. Guise, Mrs. M'lntosh, and Mrs. Simon. Supper was'served in an adjoining room, the tables having been arranged with spring flowers.
Miss Downie Stewart, wllio has been staying at Heretaunga while her brother was in camp at Trentham, has returned to Dunedin,- Sergeant Downie Stewart accompanying her for-liis leave.
Mrs. F. Q. &. Stuckey is spending a few weeks with friends in the Wairarapa. '
On Friday afternoon Mrs. Macdonald, of The Terrace, is giving a farewell tea at the Nurses' Club, Kensington Street, for the mirses who are leaving with the troopships. • All nurses are cordially invited to bo prescut. ,
This afternoon, in "the Masonic Hall, Boulcott Street,' at 2.45, Miss Dorothea Spinnoy gives as her last recital in Wellington, ".The Trojan Women," the proceeds to so towards the' fund for Servian Women and Children;/ Miss Spinney will also illustrate a number of poses taken from the figures on Greek vases to the accompaniment of flute music. To - lovers of Greek art this should be of particular interest.
