'ASTRONOMICAL SECTION.

The annual meeting of members of tho astronomical section of. the Philosophical Society was held last night, Mr. A. C. Gilford presiding. Tlie annual report and tho balance-sheet were adopted. ' The Teport showed that the membership numbered 60, and that there was an average attendance of 25 at the meetings lield during the year. The balancesheot sliowed a credit of £32 ss. 7d. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow: —Chairman, Mr. C. G. G. Berry; hon. member of section, Miss Mary Proctor; rice-chairmen, Mr. C. P. Powles, Professor E. Marsden, D.Sc, and Mr. C.
