[General Sir Archibald" Murray wbb Sir John French's-Chief of Staff; with tho Expeditionary Force in France, and has for some time been" Deputy-Chief of the Imperial General Staff, a post formerly held by Sir John French himself—lie relinquished it during tho Ulster crisis, and was succeeded by General Ewart.! Sir Archibald earlier in the year was awarded K.C.8., and received by the King, and was also created !a Grand Major of tho French Legion of Honour for distinguished services in the field.] ■
