TAMPERING WITH A LIGHTING METER

Napier, October 6.
The case against Tiirnbull and Jones, their' Napier agent (W. C. Mitchell), and an employee' (B. Urry), for tampering'with a borough council electrical meter, thus obtaining current which did not pass through the meterand was so not charged for, was continued in the Magistrate's Court to-day. The defence was ignorance that the alterations to the wiring had been made. An application for the dismissal of the charges against Turnbull and Jones on the grounds -that the firin i.was not resible i for the acts of ' its servants was refused, and the firm was .fined £2 and Court costs. The case against Mitchell was dismissed, as he> was merely the firm's J agent. in .Napier. Urry, who had tampered with, the meter, was • fined £5, with £10 13s. costs. ' ,
