BAIL WAY : MANAGEMENT AT TRKNTHAJI. In response to a letter dealing with the responsibility. for, the receipt , and delivery of goods dispatched by : rail to Trentham, the District Traffic Manager has' Written to the Secretary of ;the. Wellington Chamber of Commerce advising him that, the Department had an officer in charge at Trenthara who supervised tlie delivery of goods and' parcels for the public. The main traffic, however, was iu connection with tlie military camp, goods for which' were usually in truck loads, and were delivered in the camp siding, over ? which| the Railway Department had no control.

Mr. M'Lellau said that- it seemed that once the Railway Department shunted a truck into a siding they woro done with it. .

Mr. Vickery '.said it was a matter of regulations that bora on private sidings.. All the Doparment got was a -receipt for tho delivery of a truck. The bulk of the stuff sent to Trentham was for tho Defence people or the racecourse. Other than that only a few odd things went to Trentham, and thoso were kept until claimed by the consignees. If the Department undertook all responsibility H would have to have a. 6taft and do its accounting. Trentham was still a flag ■ station. The chairman said that, perhaps the Defence Department should bo approached. It appeared as though the regulation was <at fault.
