l ' Washington, October 3. I The danger of an immediate break betweon the United States and Germany over the sinking of the Arabic has been averted by assurances contained in a note received by Count Bernstoff. No disclosures have been made.

Germany has failed to satisfy tho request of the United States that the sinking of the Arabic. should bo disavowed, an<T that liability for tho act should bo assumed by tho Gorman Government.
Mr. Robert Lansing (Secretary of State) lias refused to make any comment. It is understood tlif.t his final refusal to meet Germany's wishes will esuao a rupture in the relations between .the Iwo nations
