PETONE CRICKET CLUB
The report to he presented at i the annual meeting of. the Petono Cricket GJub states that for the first time siuco under the Wellington Cricket Association- the senior 'team won ■' the championship. The junior team were rumiers-up in their grade, winning six and losing three out Of nine matches played. The third-class team were bracketed as winners with Old Boys. Messrs. S. Brice, J. Rodgers, and A. Gate gained places in the representative' team, the first-named player also winning the president's trophy for the batting average. Mr. Tregear secured Mr. H. Card's trophy for hest fielder, Mr. Taylor won Mr. H. Palmer's trophy for all-round junior player, and Mr. R. Cowie gained Mr. Card's trophy for best all-round player in the third eleven. The finances of the club were sound, the balance-sheet showing a small credit. During the year Messrs. Bennott and Gordon were transferred to other districts, and club members at present on active service at the front were: Captain Hardham,, V.C., Messrs. • O'Reby, M'Connell, and Doneghue. t Several others had enlisted and were waiting for the call. ■
