THE BASIN RESERVE
A meeting of the committee representing the sports bodies and citizens was held oil Saturday night to discuss tho new position which lias arisen in connection with the proposal to run tho trams through the Basin Beserve. It was unanimously resolved that this meeting enter an emphatic prgtest against tho action of the Lands Committee of the House of lloprescntatives in allowing the Bill to come before t|ie House, after hearing the evidence of the Tramway Manager only, and that members bo respectfully asked to disregard the report of that committee, but to give due weight to the finding of the Local Bills Committee, who, alter an exhaustivo inquiry extending over three days, in which evidence in support of tho Bill was heard from the Mayor, City Engineer, Tramway Manager, and City Solicitor, as well as that of citizens opposing the Bill, unanimously decided that tho Bill should not proceed. It was also decided that copies of the above resolution be. forwarded to the Bight Hon. tlie Prime Minister, the Speaker of the House, Dr. Newman, and tho member iu chargo of the Bill.
