• An informal special meeting of the -Victoria College Council was held on Saturday evening, at ! / .which Messrs. /Fleming, 1 Ferguson, - Aitken, Morton, ■Morisonr Wright, Atkinson, La Trobe, tho Rev.' Mr. Evans, and Professors 'Adamson and Brown were present. ; After--some discussion it was decided -that7a further, special . meeting be ■ conyened, on proper notice,' for .Saturday evening, October 9, at 8 p.m., when the following 'resolution,, of which notice jya s „; v en', will bo considered; 1 riiat in deference to the - repeated by -Professor von Zedlitz that he be relieved of his duties, -his be accept'ed irith 'deep regret', ', and ".that he, be paid six months' salary.'in tenns of his contract;, and that this council _do hereby place on record its' appreciation of ■'the high'-standard which/has ma'rked'his teaching--and influence'; during nearly 'fourteen years of'faithfnl service to the ■ college, and its appreciation of the honourable spirit in which the Professor 'has discharged his duties both before and since the outbreak of the war; and, further, that this council do express its reiret tha£ Professor von Zedlitz should have been compelled to insist on Mb resignation,- against the definite wishes 0 f Victoria- .College 1 ' Council -and 1 of his | students, and against the best interests of the college."
