N.Z. RIFLE BRIGADE
MESSAGE TO COLONEL-IN-CHIEF. On September 23 His Excellency tlio Governor sent tho following cablegram to Field-Marshal His Royal Highness the Duko of Connaught, Governor-Gen-eral of Canada: — "Tho newly-raised regiment, tlio Now Zealand Rifle Brigade, shortly proceeding to tlio Dardanelles, consisting of four, battalions, tender to, Your Royal Highness, as Colonel-in-Cbief of tbo Rifle Brigade, their resolution to do their utmost to emulate the glorious rocord of tbo Imperial Regiment, with whom thoy hope t'ho.y may ho associated on service. (Signed) Liverpool, Honorary Colonel Now Zealand Riflo Bri- . gade. ,J His Royal Highness replied 3s follows:— "As Colonol-in-OMef of tbo Rifle Brigade, I warmly appreciate message from New Zealand comrades, and wish them all luck and success.—(Signed) Arthur."
