The Firo Brigade Committee of the London County Council lias been calling attention to- the danger of obscuring electric lamps by veiling them with crinkled paper of a' coinbustiblo character. Tliis practice has of late led to several alarms of fir® through tlio heat generated by the lamp firing the paper. It (had become a common practice owing to the police regulation to tono down all lights, but it is often done with coloured crinkled' paper for the sake of tho effect created without thinking of the danger. It is quite a safe thing to do when the paper is suspended out from tho lamp by a frame, but tliero is always danger when the paper is close up to the glass of the lamp. I So far there has only been a slight advance on the prices of the famous Victor Cheese Vats, and factories are now ordering in view of a possible further increase.
