. LAST EVENING'S SITTING. Tlie House of Representatives met at 7.30 p.m. Mr. G. WITTY (Riccarton) ajeked the Minister of Defence whether it was a- fact that clerks in the Defence Record Office had not been paid overtime for August. ' If 60, he would ask the Minister to see that this was put right. The Hon._ J. ALLEN (Minister of Defence) said that somo of the clerks had been paid overtime, hut that the whole matter was now being inquired into. Tho Native Land 'Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Bill (the Hon. W. H. Herries), the West Coast Settlement Reserves Amendment Bill (the Hon. W. H. Herries)., the Auctioneers Amendment Bill (the Hon. G. W. Russell), the Gamins; Amendment Bill (tho Hou. G. W. Russell), tho Dairy Industry Amendment Bill (the Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald), the Coal Mines Amendment Bill (the Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald) were introduced and read a first time. Tho Prisons Amendment Bill, the Prisoners Detention Bi'l, the Railways Authorisation Bill, and the Miners' Phthisis Bill were introduced and read & first time. _ The House proceeded to the discussion of the report of the Trentham Commission of Inquiry. The House,rose at 9.50 p.m.
