OPERATIONS IN TONGA. : By Telegraph.—Press Association. •Auckland, September 25. ■ U-While ; Australia and Now Zealand are both much concerned on -the subject of Empire trade, it-is stated that a German firm continues not only to moriopoliso the island trade, but also does oxtensivc business with merchant in Sydney and Auckland, fronv whom it obtains supplies. This firm has headquarters at Tonga, but is financed from Hamburg. The war ; ; h'as- made no difference in its operations in- the Paoific, and-tlie. profits are'"bolieved 1 to be reaching: Germany .as - hitherto. The matter has-been taken up by. the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, which is urging the ■ New Zealand Government to take action. Tlie Chauiber'of Commerce asked Mr. Massey ,to appeal to tlie Imperial authorities to take action.
