Lord D'Abemon, in presiding at a conference of chief constables of liquor control areas, stated that prosecutions 'for drunkenness had dropped 40 per cent, since' the application/.of the Act. Thero was a gratifying increase of sobriety , among; seamen and firemen, and a marked improvement among shipyards, .and munition workers in timekeeping.
