The ilceen interest displayed by the members of the Miramar branch of the National Reserve is affording great satisfaction to thoir instructor, _ Lieutenant Nimmo. The unit is receiving a thorough grounding. in squad ; drill, rifle exorcise, and physical drill. With a viciv to encouraging recruiting in the district, tho branch intends giving an exhibition on tho Scatoun Park on October 16, assisted by the Hataitai Senior Cadets' drum aud fife band. Thanks to Major .Townsend's liberality and the energy of Sergeant Hull and Corporal Rowland, tho rifle range of the brand) is ill a nourishing condition. A "three shoot" handicap match was concluded on. Moilday evening. The highest aggregates were as follow: —Private S. M. Stone (rec. 13), 197. first; Corporal A. E. M. Rowland- (scr.), 106, second. Tho return match with Wellington South Branch takes place this afternoon at the.
