Sir Georgo Reid presented Distinguished Conduct Medals to - Privates Cowan and Humberstone, Sergeant Horswoll, Lance-Corporals Cawley, Gay,; and Mailer. Addressing the paraded recipients; Sir Georgo. Reid sayf: "You. .• will show. yourselves greatest if these ■ honours .leave you tho sanio modest, unpretending, manly fellows you were before. You must bo proud of the interest the King and Queen have shown in your work. The other day I wrota to the King, telling him regarding Harefield, and within four hours ,of receiving the letter Their Majesties visited the hospital. Queen Alexandra, has expressed to mo ier admiration of Austra. linns. When I was recently at Sir John French's headquarters, the Pnncei of Wales called on mo to personally express his appreciation of the efforts of the Australians.
