A GROSS INJUSTICE.
Sir,—l have just come across . your .able article pointing out the. injustice about to be meted out by the National Ministry to small shareholders. According to Mr. Wilford, M.P., u»der the super-tax a person.receiving, a £50 yearly dividend, will $iaj>',£l2 10s. in taxation. On this basis I shall have to' ;pay £75 per' annum on a £300 income, derived from two. companies, which will bo affected by this monstrous tax. Unfortunately ;for me, owing to- illhealth, I have had to give up business, 'and have invested all my life's savings' .in the above companies, and now find, in my elderly years, that the State is about to make m'e pay, practically, £75' out of an income of £300. Had I invested it in shipping companies or banks, I would have escaped such an injustice, although tho former are making huge profits over the war. " Why should I be'so penalised? As thero are many others who will suffer, I ask you, Sir, even at this late hour, to use your powerful pen to stir up Parliament and the powers' that 'bo not to inflict this gross injustice upon people with small incomcs.-—1 am, etc., SMALL SHAREHOLDER.
