ANNUAL REPORT. In the annual-report of'-the New Zealand Natives'. 'Association the committee states that the foundations of the association are' now .firmly established, and there is ' every indication that it ■will be one of .the most useful and influential societies in v the . Dominion. Early in .the -war the Early . Settlers' Association was approachod by the committee with the suggestion that an amalgamation should be arranged between both associations, having as one of its objects- the utilisation of their joint forces for the purpose of raising enough miney. to proceed with the'crection of suitable buildings for theuso of members .of both associations,', and to serve as a memorial to the landing. of our early pioneers. The scheme was favourably taken up, and, at a meeting held,: promises of large donations were given; but,V shortly: after, Great Britain was. involved'in this-.great "war,; and it was thought by the representatives of both associations that the money' and the associations' energies should be' placed at the disposdl of the authorities to help to bring to an honourable end this war for the preservation of_ justice and liberty. The report specially mentions the work done during the year by the : band in ' raising' money . for patriotic purposes, and also the work done by the Ladies'; Guild in visiting the sick and wounded soldiers. Many of the association's, members have enlisted for service abroad. During the year a purchasing association was established, and_ efforts are: now .being '" made to organise •air orchestra in connection with the association; and: also a. Dramatic Club. The finances of the association are iii a satisfactory condition. . ;
