The following leters of appreciation and acknowledgment for gifts which have been forwarded by the Mayoress's Committee at the Town Hall of tho Countess of Liverpool Fund to the soldiers at the front have been received by the honorary secretary (Mrs. A. Crawford): — From Major A. H. Cunningliam, Commanding tho Wellington Infantry Battalion, who writes: "Dear Madam, — The cases of goods forwarded by you duly reached the regiment last Sunday. Everything was in good order, and we spent a happy day opening up and distributing 1 numerous parcels. Any of the men who missed anything specially addressed to him was soon supplied with a parcel from the number that were left -over. ■ The' surplus parcels addressed to killed or wounded men or men who are not with us, we are keeping in store, and are supplying parcels to the other men as they rejoin. On behalf of the officers, non-commissioned officers, .and men of this regiment I thank- you and your committee very heartily' for - the thorough fulness you have snown and the trouble you havo taken to supply us with so many useful articles."—

i/ieut. E. J. Hulbeit, , Officer Commandingthe Signal Troop of the N.Z.E., writes -—'.'Please . accept my . sincere thanks for the acceptable parcel forwarded by your committee.. The men I have the honour to command are loyally doing their share towards bringing this war to a victorious conclusion, and I can assure you they are very grateful to j'ou-people" in dear old New Zealand for your many kindnesses. I think I am anticipating your wishes by issuing the parcels addressed to those men of-my troop who have . become casualties. You will be pleased to know that every man of my troop has thus received a parcel from your committee." . - . Captain Shera, Officer ..Commanding the Field Troop, N.Z.E., writes from Arizac Cove, Gallipoli Peninsula, as follows: : —"Will you kindly convey to tie members of your. committee the grateful thanks of the members of the Field' Troop, N.Z. Engineers, for their kind and thoughtful gifts of' socks, handkerchiefs, and soap. The receipt ( 'bf these most useful articles is appreciated by one and all. Again thanking -you."

: From Private 6. E. Tolly, of the ,6th Wellington Mounted Rifles, comes the following:—"Many thanks for the parcels of sox, etc., which came to hand safely to-day. The contents are much appreciated by all, and keep one. in (auch with good old New Zealand. Kia Ora." ' •
