LETTERFROM THE NEW CAPTAIN. Tlie Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. G. W. Russell) lias received through the the High' Commissioner " a letter from Captain John F. E. Green, who has succeeded Captain Lionel Halsey in command of the battle-cruiser New Zealand. "I have the Honour to inform you that Captain Lionel Halsey, having been appointed to the Iron Duke as Commodore First Class, and Captain of the Fleet, I have taken over the command of H.M.S. New Zealand in his place," writes Captain Green. "Having followed the history of the sjiip since, she was first offered to the Mother Country/ I fully appreciate tho honour and responsibility which lias been conferred on me by Their Lordships, and I can assure you that I shall do my utmost to maintain the high state of efficiency in which I have found the ship, that she may be a.credit to she Dominion and a worthy response to she patriotism' and foresight of her people, on tho next occasion of her being tried."... 1
