EXEMPTION FROM DEATH DUTIES. The Minister of Finance (tho Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) stated last night that provision is being made in' tho Finance, Bill to exempt soldiers' estates from death duty to a certain extent. Tho statute will operate as from August 4, 1914. ,Ou tho passing of the statute the Commissioner of Stamps will refund any duty already paid. In the meantime circulars have been issued by the Commissioner of Stamps on August 8, instructing Deputy Commissioners not to collect death duty on soldiers' estates.
