QUEEN CARNIVALS
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Core, September 20. ■■ Tlie Gore mid Eastern District Queen Carnival' closed on Saturday. There were fire candidates, two country and three town. The contest resulted in a win for the country as ■ follows:— Eastern District Country Queen (Mrs. Pinckney), £2762 18s. 4d.; AVaikaka. Queen (Miss Edge), £1354 4s. 2d.; Our Soldiers', Queen (Miss M'Laucnlan), £1235 95.; Commerco Queen (Miss Latham), £1269; Highland Queen (Miss Noble), £888 12s. 2d. Dargaville, September 20. The Northern Wairoa Queen Carnival resulted in the return of. Miss Anibury, the Farmers' Queen, who polled 1W,262 votes. Mrs. A. E. Harding, the Soldiers' Queen, with 137,271 votes, was second. The total amount realised by the carnival was £6091, and .further sums are to co'me from the crowning ceremony on the evening of Dominion
