Mrs. Phil Nathan is arranging a musical and dramatic recital in New Plymouth (where she has been spending tlie winter), in connection "\vitli the ictona League in that town.
Matron Fulton, of Trentham Hospital, and Sister Keith will be among the next nurses to be sent to Egypt. The fow nurses who came buck witli wounded soldiers on the Tahiti have been granted 'fhreo weeks' leave of absence from duty.
An Australian nnrse, writing to a friend from Heliopolis, states that two of the Australian sisters were mentioned in dispatches for bravery under lire. They were on transport (hospital) duty from the Dardanelles to Alexandria, and they kept to their work on the decks while the shells were bursting air around them. Things became so hot that the captain decided to move from the stationary position to further out in tho straits. One of tlio Australian soldiers, in describing the situation, said that the two sisters wero wonderful, and never lost a grip of themselves throughout that awful day—tho day of the landing. They were bringing tho wounded iiy hundreds oyer to the hospital ship. 'Further on in her letter tho nurse suggests that coloured handkerchiefs should be sent to tho men instead of white ones, as is already boing done, also coloured triangular bandages, and net covers for milkjugs. She further advises that soclcs should bo made long in the legs.
Mrs. Raymond Lawrence and _ Miss Williams, who have been on a visit to Napier,/ returned to Wellington last evening.
It is at Mr. Paino's .fruit shop on the Quay, near tlio' Gear pompany's promises, that little bunches of herbs may lie bought on Fridays, not Mr. Elaine's, as appeared in yesterday's issue. The proceds of their sale go towards buying material for soldiers' garments.
